Medical coding is something that is a bit more complicated, but also a part of the billing process. Every procedure that a doctor performs has a different code. There are books that have the codes all in them, but doctors look to hire those who know at least half of the codes by heart. It simply takes up too much time to have to look at the book for reference with every case.
