There are different areas a medical coder can work in that might determine how much one makes.  While one person might work for a doctors office, another could work in a lab, while another works for a health care provider.  Each doing essentially the same thing, but all focusing on the task in a different way.

The job of a medical coder is not to be confused with the job of a medical biller.  While a medical Coding Salary will max out around 25k a year, a medical biller can make as much as 45k a year.  And not only is the pay different, but the job deals with different things than that of a coder.
